Our stress and anxiety sessions are guided hypnosis recordings for different kinds of stress, each one talking you through ways to slow down and relax when your mind feels busy or tense.

What these sessions are like

Each session takes its own approach, but most begin the same way. Find somewhere quiet where you can sit or lie down and close your eyes safely. A calm, steady voice, over soft background music, guides your breathing, then talks you through letting go of tension, one part of your body at a time. You might be invited to picture a quiet place, or simply to notice your breath. At the end, the voice gently counts you back, so you feel alert and ready to carry on with your day.

Not sure where to start?

Pick the session that fits the moment, whether that's a reset in the middle of a busy day or a way to wind down in the evening.

Stress & Anxiety sessions: common questions

Can I listen at work?

Yes, if you can sit somewhere quiet and close your eyes safely for a few minutes. Give yourself a minute to come round before you get back to work.

What if I notice my thoughts more at first?

That can happen when you first slow down. There's no need to push your thoughts away. Let them come and go, and keep following the voice.

Can I stop if I feel uncomfortable?

Yes. You stay aware and in control the whole time. Open your eyes, take a few breaths, and stop the session whenever you like.

What if anxiety is affecting my daily life?

These sessions are made to help you relax and settle a busy mind. If anxiety is affecting your daily life, or is part of a wider health or mental health problem, please speak to your GP as well. If you're struggling right now, call Samaritans free on 116 123, any time.
